  • Where does the Tiny House come from?
The concept originated in the United States in 1929 as a response to difficulties in the housing market. These difficulties faced by Americans were due to the collapse of the American economy and natural disasters such as Hurricane Katrina, which destroyed many homes and left thousands homeless. As a result, many people were looking for an inexpensive alternative to home ownership. In the 2000s, architect Jay Shafer created the Tiny House movement based on building a house on a trailer. He sees that it is not necessary to live in large spaces. Humans can make do with the minimum and be happy. "I think people should be allowed to live as simply as they want." • What are the laws of a Tiny House?
A Tiny House is subject to the same obligations as a conventional house because it is considered habitable. The Alur or Duflot II law, appeared in 2014. They aim to promote access to housing, to regulate rentals, in particular by fighting against the renting of inadequate housing, and to promote construction through a reform of the law of urban planning. If your Tiny house is less than 20 m2 then it will not be necessary to apply for planning permission. If you want to live in your Tiny house and make it your first home, you will have to turn to the Alur law and approach your mayor to obtain permission for your construction and installation. To live there temporarily, the law limits the stay to three months in the year. If you wish to extend your stay, you must obtain prior authorization. Similarly, for the installation of a tiny house in a private property, you cannot exceed 3 months unless you make a request to the town hall.

  • Which vehicles can tow a Tiny House?
A Tiny House can be towed by vehicles in the light vehicle category. However, for more safety, we recommend you to use a heavier vehicle, less prone to tipping and more powerful. The most commonly used are 4x4s, pickups or other vans which are the most suitable. A rental is a good solution for Tiny House removals if you intend to leave it in one place without wanting to move it frequently, so it is not necessarily necessary to buy a towing vehicle. You need a vehicle with a towable weight of 3,5 t. This corresponds to a gross vehicle weight of about 6.5 t. The vehicle registration document shows the gross vehicle weight (F3) and the gross vehicle weight (F2). The subtraction (F3) GVWR - (F2) GVWR indicates the maximum towing weight of the car.

Living in a " Miniature " means living with an economical lifestyle on several points.
  • How to finance my Tiny House ?
A Tiny House is much more affordable than a traditional house. It is still difficult to withdraw (about) 50,000 euros from the bank. Most of us go for the credit option. This is THE most common solution to get a house and therefore a Tiny House easily. Indeed, borrowing money from the bank in order to acquire a small house seems like a simple solution. And yet, from January 1, 2022, banks have tightened their conditions for access to credit following the decision of the High Council for Financial Stability (HCSF). Also, from a law and legal point of view, a Tiny House is not considered a traditional house. Quite simply because it does not have fixed but removable foundations. Thus, some banks may not consider this type of dwelling as real estate and therefore may refuse you a mortgage without the support of a professional. Miniature Tiny House puts all its care to make the dreams of its customers come true. We found it essential to support you financially, which is a crucial point in such a project. To do this, we are working today with a real estate brokerage expert to help you get your Tiny House. If your loan is refused, you still have a chance to see life in Miniature with our partner Credit Smart.
